The Sharps and Flats are part of the Performing Arts Program offered by The Good Companions Seniors' Centre. Band members are volunteers, mostly retirees, their past careers reflecting many different aspects of community life. They volunteer their time for weekly rehearsals, pay membership and parking fees to The Good Companions, use their own vehicles to bring equipment to performance venues, and provide and maintain their own instruments. The band owns and maintains its own sound equipment, and buys its own music. To defray some of these operating costs we usually charge a nominal playing fee.
